Die Parkanlage der Villa Johannishof wird neu gedacht – mit dem Respekt vor dem Gewachsenen als Ausgangspunkt. Die Bestandsvilla birgt im Inneren ein besonderes Erbe: originale Wandmalereien aus der Fin-de-Siècle-Epoche, mit floralen Motiven, ornamentalen Ranken und einer Bildsprache, die Natur und Architektur untrennbar miteinander verbindet.
Diese Formensprache wird nach außen getragen. Motive, Strukturen und Rhythmen der Wandmalereien finden ihre Entsprechung in der Gestaltung der Parkanlage – in Wegeführungen, Beetstrukturen, Einfassungen und räumlichen Gliederungen. Der Park wird so zur Fortsetzung des Hauses unter freiem Himmel.
Der Bestand wird nicht überschrieben, sondern ergänzt. Vorhandene Strukturen und das gewachsene Grün bleiben Grundlage der Planung. Was neu hinzukommt, tut dies mit Zurückhaltung – und mit dem Ziel, die Einheit von Haus, Park und Landschaft zu stärken.
Der Park der Villa Johannishof wird zu einem Ort, der die Geschichte des Hauses trägt und gleichzeitig offen ist für das Leben, das heute in ihm stattfindet – eingebettet in die außergewöhnliche Landschaft des Stodertals.
The park of Villa Johannishof is rethought — with respect for what has grown as its starting point. The existing villa harbours a special heritage within: original wall paintings from the fin-de-siècle era, with floral motifs, ornamental tendrils, and a visual language that binds nature and architecture inseparably together.
This formal language is carried outward. Motifs, structures, and rhythms of the wall paintings find their counterpart in the design of the park — in path layouts, bed structures, edgings, and spatial articulations. The park thus becomes the continuation of the house under the open sky.
The existing fabric is not overwritten but complemented. Existing structures and the mature greenery remain the basis of the planning. What is newly added does so with restraint — and with the aim of strengthening the unity of house, park, and landscape.
The park of Villa Johannishof becomes a place that carries the history of the house and is at the same time open to the life that takes place within it today — embedded in the extraordinary landscape of the Stodertal.
